S2000 and Z2000
For more demanding situations, Z2000 and S2000 channels have a 200mm clear opening and are available in depths from 280mm to 380mm**. MEA edge rails are embedded in the channel body providing superior edge protection and attractive looks. MEA channels are made from environmentally compatible, high strength polymer concrete, which protects groundwater from aggressive liquids. Z2000 channels are manufactured with an integrated gal edge rail. S2000 channels are manufactured with an integrated stainless steel edge rail. Z2000 and S2000 channels can be combined with various lockable grate options to suit the aesthetic and loading requirements of your project. S2000 channels are ideal when extra corrosive resistance is required or when combined with our stainless steel grate range.
Whether you opt for the MEADRAIN® Z system with galvanized steel edge protection, or the S system with stainless steel edge protection: you are assured of advanced functionality and attractive looks in a single solution.
**Note to Designers: MEA offers a complementary hydraulic analysis service to establish the most appropriate channel type and size for your project. Email us with the following information:
- Average Rainfall Intensity
- Catchment area
- Length of desired trench drain
- Number of outlet points available
- Required Application(location, type of traffic, likely speed of traffic)
Key Features:
- Z2000: Integrated Galvanised steel edge rail
- S2000: Integrated Stainless steel edge rail
- Environmental protection: Sealant groove in base of channel to resist leakage of pollutants.
- Stepped fall: Available in 3 depths 280mm, 330mm and 380mm
- Tough Design: Designed for loading classes from A10 to D210.
- Grate Options: Available with a wide range of grates for every situation
- Secure: Grates can be locked down to prevent theft and movement
- Recyclable: MEA channels are able to be recycled for use in roads
- Hydraulic capacity: MEA offers a complementary hydraulic design service to ensure the correct channel is selected.
- Available: MEA is distributed throughout Australia and New Zealand
- Self cleaning: Easier to maintain with a capillary free rounded self cleaning base
- Channel body weight up to 75% lighter than conventional concrete channels
- Resistance to acids very resistant to chemical liquids (pH range 3-9)
- Workability easily worked with grinding disks, masonry drills and chisels
Typical Applications: (Link to application page)
- Pedestrian areas
- Schools
- Car Parks
- Service Stations
- Streetscapes
Broad range of grate options:

End caps
Locking mechs
Silt box
The silt box is designed to accommodate the exact Z/S 2000 channel width. It is fitted with galvanized or stainless steel edge protection and is available with a sediment bucket which effectively protects storm water mains against blockages. For the Z/S 2000 channels MEA designed a 3 part gully system, which can easily discharge the higher drainage capacity of this channel system.

General installation instructions
Our installation instructions are general suggestions only. The planners must ascertain whether site conditions necessitate special requirements as regards channel installation.
- The loading class and installation position, for the respective area where installation is to take place, needs to be taken into account.
- The adjoining floor slab or pavement surface must be laid so as to be 3-5mm higher than upper surface of the channel.
- Horizontal forces on the channel line-from adjoining concrete areas or reinforced concrete constructions are to be eliminated by the use of effective expansion and contraction joints in both longitudinal and transverse directions.
- During concreting and laying of the adjoining floor slabs or pavement surface, the gratings are to be inserted in the channel groove, alternatively, channels must be sufficiently braced to counteract any compression.
- Channels must not suffer any mechanical damage during installation, e.g. during compaction of the adjoining surfaces.
- The installation of silt boxes and gullies is similar to the installation examples for channels.
- EN 1433 specifies the mandatory, traffic-proof securement of gratings for loading class C 250 and upwards.
